1. Non-Transferable Things (Guide Content)

Items you cannot bring across the Canadian border (or need very strict permits):

  • Fresh fruits, vegetables, plants & soil – risk of pests/disease.

  • Meat, poultry, dairy, eggs – some exceptions for sealed, labelled commercial goods.

  • Firearms & ammunition – restricted unless you declare, license, and meet CBSA import rules.

  • Switchblades, brass knuckles, stun guns, pepper spray for self-defense.

  • Counterfeit goods – fake designer items, pirated media/software.

  • Endangered wildlife products – ivory, coral, exotic animal skins.

  • Prescription drugs not prescribed to you – only personal-use meds with original label.

  • Explosives, fireworks, flares (special permits only).

  • Used mattresses (without certification of fumigation).

  • Certain vehicles/equipment not on Transport Canada’s admissibility list.
